Obituary

Sandra Lynn Candelaria, 83, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Sandra was born on October 24, 1942, in Albuquerque, to John and Lois Brown. She married the love of her life, Leandro, on September 2, 1961, and they built a loving home together. She dedicated most of her life to child care in her home, where she inspired countless children with her kindness, patience, and love.

Sandra enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and UNM Lobos, and spending time with her grandson. Sandra was known for her generous spirit, warm smile, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leandro Candelaria; her daughter, Amanda and son-in-law John Madrid; her beloved grandson Nathan; brother John (Hannelore); sister Grace; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

We would also like to thank Roadrunner Healthcare for taking such good care of her for the last five years. We would especially like to thank Roger, Mona, Pavia, and the many nurses who cared for her: Tammy, Ruth, Maddison, Kara, and Anna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lois Brown, and her brother David.

A rosary and mass will be held on August 14, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl, SE, Albuquerque, followed by a reception with family and friends.
