Scott Alan Hallenbeck, 60, passed away on April 1, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Scott was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Kenneth and June Hallenbeck. Scott moved to Albuquerque in 1991 to start an environmental testing laboratory, Hall Environmental Analysis Laboratory. He recently retired after selling the business in November 2023.
Scott and his family moved to Colorado Springs in 1978. He graduated from Air Academy High School in 1981 and went on to graduate from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1988. He worked for laboratories in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona before making the move to New Mexico to start his business. The lab was a success and had over 50 employees when he made the decision to retire and sell the business along with his business partner, Andy Freeman.
Scott was an avid golfer. He loved traveling with friends all over the country to golf and he loved golfing at the local golf courses in Albuquerque and throughout New Mexico. He was really looking forward to golfing even more after his retirement. He even made a trip “across the pond” to golf at St. Andrew’s with his friend Larry way back in 1999. His most treasured experience was golfing with Notah Begay III, which was an auction package that his wife bid on and won that raised money for financial aid at his children’s high school, Sandia Prep. Golf was a game that Scott really enjoyed, whether he was playing it or watching it on TV, golf was an important thing in his life.
Scott was married for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Kristen and their two children Garrett, 20 and Caden, 18, his sister Sheri (Dave) and brothers Tom (Tiem) and Kevin (Diane), his parents, Ken and June, 13 nieces and nephews and even one great-niece.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Joy Junction in Scott’s memory.
