Seferino Sefe"" Montoya

MONTOYA - Seferino “Sefe” Montoya, age 71, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away in his home after a courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, April 20, 2010, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 22, 1938 in Cuba, NM and was a resident of Bernalillo, NM for 46 years. Sefe was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, where he served as a lecture and a member of the Adult Spanish Choir, and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7633. He was the owner and operator of Seferino’s Farmers Insurance Agency in Bernalillo, NM. Sefe served as a Councilman for the Town of Bernalillo for 12 years, and past County Commissioner for Sandoval County for four years. He also was a Deputy Sheriff for Sandoval County Sheriff Dept. serving under the late Sheriff Dick Montoya. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Sefe’s life long passion was ranching and raising cattle at his ranch in Cuba, NM. Sefe will fondly be remembered as a loving, caring, and generous man, who will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Sefe was preceded in death by his parents Josephita Montoya and Napoleon Trujillo; sister Prescilla Valdez; brothers, Florence Montoya, Frutoso, Heraclio and Belarmino Trujillo and Ubaldo Lovato (whom he loved as a brother). He is survived by his loving soul mate of 46 years, Connie Montoya; his daughters, Tina Dominguez and Mariah Montoya; his sons, Vincent Montoya and wife Missy and Santiago Montoya; his precious grandchildren, Lorenzo Montoya and wife Rosangela, Steven Dominguez and girlfriend, Tammy Lucero, Janice Garcia and fiancé Josh Salazar, Patrick Garcia and Vicente Montoya; his great-grandchildren, Dominique Dominguez, Lorenzo, Andres and Mario Montoya, Shawntae and Joshua Salazar. He is also survived by his brother, Bences Montoya and wife Bernice of Kearns, UT; his sisters, Rufina Lovato of Cuba, NM and Gavina Sanchez of Farmington, NM; brother-in-law, Ross Valdez of La Jara, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Visitations will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Henry Sandoval, Dickie Lopez, Eddie Torres, Joe Sanchez, Luciano Valdez and James Kloeppel. Honorary Bearers will be Harold Dominguez, Jonathon Dominguez, Ramona Perea, LeeAnn Archuleta, LeeAnn Valdez, Victoria Valdez, Delfin Sanchez, Raymond Valdez and Andy Mora.
