Albuquerque

Selma G. (Clark) Adams passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, in Albuquerque New Mexico with her family by her side after 86 full and happy years. Selma was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Selma was married to E. Wayne Adams for 65 years and they raised three children. Wayne preceded Selma in death in 2019.  She missed him dearly and treasured the many years that they were married.  Wayne and Selma moved from their home state of Texas to Albuquerque, NM, and then to Las Vegas, NV as Wayne’s job gave them the opportunity to travel many parts of the world. Selma enjoyed traveling, family and friends, reading books, cards, and bingo.

Selma is survived by her sons, E. Wayne Adams Jr. and wife, Wanda, Albuquerque NM; Jim Adams and wife, Kelley, Plano, TX and daughter Dee Dee McInroy, Los Alamos, NM. She loved her grandchildren tremendously: Amanda Thomas and husband Kyle, Little Elm, TX, Travis McInroy and wife Crista, Westminster, CO, and Cassie Adams, Plano, TX. Selma received such joy from her great-grandchildren, Sadie and Jude Thomas. She is survived by her two sisters: Janice Courtney, Midland, TX and Alice Ballard and husband Don, Haskell, TX, and brother-in-laws: Leon Adams and wife, Kay, Burleson, TX; and Mike Adams and wife Mary, Cleburne TX. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Selma was born in Monahans, TX to Grady F. Clark and Mamie Z. Clark who preceded her in death along with her brother Keith F. Clark. Selma graduated from Cisco High School in Cisco, TX and began her career at Southwestern Laboratories in Fort Worth, TX.  She worked for several businesses in Texas before she moved to Albuquerque, NM and Las Vegas, NV where she was a Real Estate Agent and manager of several Real Estate Agencies.  Selma, along with her husband Wayne, eventually retired in Albuquerque NM.

Selma was a member of Sandia Baptist Church for many years in Albuquerque as well as other churches in Texas, New Mexico, and Nevada. Throughout her life, Selma was a devout Baptist with unwavering faith in the Lord.

Selma was loved dearly and will be missed by her family and many friends. A family graveside service will be held later at Sandia Memory Gardens in Albuquerque, NM.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
