Shirley Marie Powell

Shirley Marie Powell died at home on May 3, 2023. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and MarMar, as well as a librarian, teacher, lifelong bibliophile, and dog lover. Shirley was a world traveler who never turned down an opportunity for adventure.

She was born on March 20, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to Alice (Pearce) McLaughlin and John Bernard McLaughlin. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Frank; and her sister, Marguerite Jacqueline (McLaughlin) McGaha. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Powell and Rebecca Talbott; son-in-law, Dale Talbott; grandchildren, Daniel Talbott, Sarah Sheldon, Alice Sheldon (Ryan Compton), and David Talbott (Liz Olive); great-grandchildren, Madeline Early, Natalie Talbott, Oliver Talbott, and Caitlin Compton.

There will be a private interment at Sante Fe National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are provided by Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
