Shirley Smith

Shirley Marie Smith passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025. Shirley was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma, on July 29, 1935, to Clarence and Tiny Bentley. She moved to New Mexico with her family as a child, graduating from Highland High School in Albuquerque, and in 1955 she married Bob Smith. After moving throughout New Mexico in the early years of their marriage Shirley and Bob settled in Albuquerque in 1963 and were lifelong residents from that time. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother to her two sons Ron (Jolene) and Greg (Marites). The family enjoyed camping trips with Shirley’s family and regular trips to Yeso, New Mexico, to gather with Bob’s family. Shirley and Bob also enjoyed traveling the country to sightsee and to visit family and were inseparable for all 64 years of their marriage.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her very special granddaughter Emily Smith, her sister Rosalie and Rosalie’s husband Tom Goyne and by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Sharon Smith.

Shirley is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, her granddaughters Carrie Burns (Mitch) and Nicole Mead (Brandon) and her beloved great grandchildren Khyler, Taylor and Boston Burns and her newborn great grandchild Mason Mead. She is also survived by brothers Tim (Kathy) and Steve (Diane) Bentley and sisters-in-law Donna (Dave) Klute and Wanda (Gary) Walsh and brother-in-law Gary (Edie) Smith and by many nieces, nephews and other family members.

A funeral service will be held July 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd. Rio Rancho, NM Interment to follow at Vista Verde Cemetary.
