Sidney A. Counts

COUNTS, Sidney Amos, 83, of Albuquerque died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born to the late Joel Minor and Agnes (Young) Counts in Hale Center, Texas. Sidney, a decorated U.S. Navy WW II veteran was an avid camper and enjoyed reading and auto repair. He was predeceased by a brother, Joel Counts; two sisters, Edith Leaverton and Thelma Mahan. Survivors include his son, David Counts of Albuquerque; two daughters, Darlah Yancey and husband, Hank of Rio Rancho and Donna Cummings and husband, Phillip of Albuquerque; grandchildren, David Counts, Jr., Sidney Counts, Samuela Gatewood, Joel Yancey, Brandon, Shaun and Benjamin Cummings, Emily and Zack Counts; numerous great grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:00 PM, Wednesday at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave. SE (842-8800). Funeral services will be at the funeral home’s Palm Chapel at 10:00 AM, Thursday with interment immediately following at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE.
