Obituary

Stacie Marie Yazza, 39, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Born on October 23, 1986, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stacie was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend whose warmth, creativity, and sense of humor touched countless lives. She graduated from Rio Rancho High School in 2005 and later attended Fort Lewis College, where she studied History, as well as Central New Mexico Community College.

Throughout her career, Stacie built meaningful connections through her work and dedication to serving others. Early in her career, she worked with American Indian Student Services and Zimmerman Library at the University of New Mexico, helping students feel welcomed and supported. She later spent many years with Whole Foods Market, where she built lasting friendships and developed a reputation for excellent customer service. For the past seven years, she served as a Communication & Outreach Specialist in the Student Financial Aid Office at the University of New Mexico, where she was dedicated to helping students navigate their educational journeys and access opportunities for success.

Stacie had a creative spirit and a love of adventure. She enjoyed drawing, listening to music, and traveling to discover new places and experiences. Through her artwork, she created imaginative characters filled with intricate detail, color, and personality, reflecting her unique perspective and creativity. She also enjoyed pet sitting, caring for animals, and spending time with friends and family.

An avid pop culture enthusiast, Stacie never turned down a good movie or television show and loved testing her knowledge at trivia competitions. Whether discussing a favorite film, discovering a new series, or sharing a laugh with friends, she found joy in connecting with others through the stories and characters she loved.

Family and relationships were at the center of Stacie’s life. She shared a close bond with her parents, siblings, and extended family, and found enduring love and companionship with her partner, Adrian Burke. She was a proud and loving aunt to her niece, Nizhoni, and nephew, Kodi, who brought her tremendous joy.

Stacie was known for her creativity, adventurous spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. She had a gift for making others laugh and brought warmth and joy to those around her. Those who knew her will remember her infectious laugh, quick wit, artistic talent, generous heart, and the genuine care she showed others. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, partner, friend, colleague, and trusted companion whose presence made life brighter for so many.

Stacie is survived by her loving partner, Adrian Burke; her parents, Bennie Rodger Yazza and Wilma Rhoda Yazza; her sister, Valerie Yazza; her brother, Benjamin Cody Yazza; her niece, Nizhoni; her nephew, Kodi; and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.
