Stephen Erik Hedval

Stephen Hedval, 60. Resident of Rio Rancho, NM died on October 2, 2011. Services will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, NM. A rosary service will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. His remains will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Stephen was born to Vivian Rae Thornton and Harold Hedval, deceased, on September 27, 1951 in Los Alamos, NM. Stephen attended primary school in Albuquerque, NM and then graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute in 1969. He went on to enlist in the United States Navy where he served as a Hospital Corpsman for 6 years. Following his honorable separation from the Navy, Stephen attended Yale University and received his degree in sonography. Steve had a true passion for helping others and worked tirelessly for over 30 years as an ultrasound technician in San Diego, CA and New Mexico. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his sons and father in Chama Valley, NM. Stephen will be truly missed and is survived by his three children Erik Hedval and spouse Alicia, Zachary Hedval, and Anna Maltese, by his sister Janet and her three children Kelly Jo, AJ and Simon, and by his fianc�?©, Janice Kavanaugh.
