Sylvia Lee Dossey

DOSSEY- Sylvia Lee Dossey, age 93, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 3, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia was a long time resident of Albuquerque. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alameda. Sylvia enjoyed many nights having dinner with her family and friends at Murphy’s. She so truly loved her family. To hear Sylvia tell stories about her children, grandchildren and places that she had gone was a real treat. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Sylvia was born in Norman, OK on December 15, 1916. Sylvia moved to Cortez, CO in 1932 where she raised her three children. She later moved to Albuquerque to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. Cortez was always the place she called home. Sylvia often spoke of friends and family that she loved in Cortez. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Roy Jack Dossey; granddaughters, Anna Lynn, Ruth Renee; great-grandson, James Leroy; and great-great-grandson, Joshua Lindsey. Sylvia is survived by her loving children, Anna Mae Roberts, Mary “Elizabeth” and husband Eli Martinez, Eddie Coppinger and wife Mary; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; countless other that she took in as her own. In the words of Grandma Dossey “I LOVE YOU ALL”. Visitations will be Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Alameda, 8818 2nd Street NW, where Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Mike Dietz officiating. Further services and Interment will be conducted in Cortez, CO.
