Tara Susan Bond

Tara Susan (O’Brien) Bond was a beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was born on May 3, 1961 in Yonkers, New York to Bernard and Marian O’Brien. Tara’s education began at Marymount Junior School in Arlington VA where her favorite teacher was Sr. Maureen Therese McGroddy.  During fourth grade, the family relocated to New Jersey and she attend the Mendham School system where she met her lifelong friends Alexandra Segers DeRosa and Susan Crossan. Tara earned a bachelor in Accounting from St. Elizabeth’s in Convent Station and an MBA from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She loved books, art, baking, and travel. During her work career, she was employed by AT&T as an associate manager of finance and the US Air Force as a contracting officer. 
 
After moving to Saint Augustine, Florida, Tara fell in love with and married Tom Bond on April 19, 1997 at Saint Anastasia Catholic Church in Saint Augustine, Florida. Not long after marriage Tara was diagnosed with heart failure but was fortunate to receive a transplant. Tara recovered and she and Tom found their greatest happiness when they adopted their son Tommy from Cambodia. Tara was dedicated to her family and they enjoyed the time spent together, from watching Tommy play basketball to family vacations. Of all the places she lived, she loved, Albuquerque NM the most, where they were happy among friends and their church community.  Tom and Tara loved the pink glow of the Sandia Mountains, and the stars popping out of the inky dark sky.
 
When Tara’s heart began to fail again, she and her family moved to New Jersey for treatment, leaving behind their friends, home, and jobs. Tara and Tom’s journey together came to an end in June, 2018 when Tom passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Despite her heartbreaking loss, Tara continued to hope that she would receive another transplant, but sadly it was not to be. She died on January 24, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center with loved ones by her side. She will be greatly missed.
 
Tara is survived by her cherished son, Thomas A. Bond, her parents, her sisters Kathleen (Paul) Pruss and Kerry (Jeoffrey) Hall, brother Gary (Elizabeth Conaway) O’Brien, her sisters in law Barbara (Paul Fisher) Bond, Susan (Lorne) McDonald and her nieces and nephews Colleen Pruss, Matthew Hall, Erin Hall, Laura McDonald, Leanne McDonald, Sarah McDonald, Shannon McDonald, Rick Harris, and her dog Reggie. She is predeceased by her husband Tom and her sister in law Wendy Woodcock.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:30 am at Christ Lutheran Church,  7701 Candelaria Rd. NE, with Pastor Neal Groeling officiating.
