CRABTREE, THOMAS EDWARD

Crabtree, Thomas E. 1st LT USAF Retired, was born on May 27, 1919 in Calumet, Alabama.  At the age of 96, Tom passed away peacefully at his Rio Rancho home on January 2, 2016, surrounded by loved ones.  

As a WWII veteran having served his country for 20 years, he was able to travel around the world to sights such as France, Germany, Holland, and Switzerland.  After retirement, he went on to work for 19 years as a case worker in the Department of Human Services.  During this time, he was able to complete his BUS degree from UNM.  Having been an avid reader, there was hardly a time you would see Tom without a book.  Some of his favorite authors included Tom Clancy, WEB Griffin, and Tony Hillerman.  

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Earl Crabtree and Lena Hey, and his first wife Lee Crabtree.

Tom was a devoted husband, loving father, honored grandfather and uncle to many.  He is survived by his wife Ruby of the family home, his two sons Richard of Albuquerque along with his sons Heath and Shane, and Don of Rio Rancho along with his daughters Jessica and Carrie.

Tom's cremains will be buried at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe with full military honors.  He was a member of the DAV chapter 5 of Rio Rancho.  

As per his wishes there will be no memorial services.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

Tom will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he has touched and will forever be loved by all who have known him.
