Thomas F. Mumford

Cdr. Thomas F. Mumford (US Navy Retired) Thomas F. Mumford, age 79 passed away on January 13, 2013. He was born in Carbondale, PA, the son of Elwin and Mabel Mumford. He enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and was commissioned an officer in 1963. Tom was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal during his naval career. Tom enjoyed his time in New Mexico having been stationed here four times. His final tour of duty brought him here as the Maintenance Officer for The Naval Weapons Evaluation Facility. He is survived by Lucetta, his loving wife of 58 years; children, Tom and wife Cheryl of Phoenix, AZ; Mary Kay and husband Gary of Rio Rancho, NM; Randy and wife Sue of Mayfield, PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Since his retirement in 1992 he was active in the Pajarito Thunderbird Club and enjoyed restoring Classic Thunderbirds. Services will be held at Daniel�s Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd. Rio Rancho, NM on Saturday January 26, 2013 at 11:00am Interment will be private.
