It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Timothy Daniel Pitcher on October 6th, 2025 at the age of 76.
Tim came from humble beginnings, born to John Edward Pitcher and Violet Gathings Pitcher of Monroe, CT on Dec 16th 1948. He attended Masuk High School and was the first in the family to attend college, graduating with a degree in marketing from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY.
An energetic young man, Tim was a Scout and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dear friend, Richard Klein. He worked from the age of 13, delivering papers and picking apples. After college he joined the marketing team at Nestle's, before starting his own firm, US1 Marketing. In the early 90's Tim moved to the Maine woods to build a lakeside log home with his then wife, Maureen Hedges. Together they created a unique, artistic structure with every element hand crafted and carefully executed.
At the age of 55 Tim set off on a journey that would change his life. He had come across the words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now."
He set his sights on riding his bicycle across the nation from Portland, Maine on a journey he called "Metamorphosis". Four months later he arrived in Portland, Oregon having battled wind and weather, camping in solitude on the open road.
He came home with a plan.
He went on to pursue anything and everything that interested him; deep sea fly-fishing, scuba diving, skydiving, gliding, sailing and racing sailboats, traveling, learning a new language, even flying kites on the beach. He moved to the Richmond, VA area to be closer to museums, music and fine dining.
But time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. He entered the winter season of his life unprepared for the loss of strength and ability to go and do the things he wanted to do. He lived with no regrets, there are things he wished he hadn't done, things he should have done but more so, things he is happy to have done. "Live for today", he would say, "Life is a gift to you, the way you live your life is a gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one!"
Tim leaves behind his two sisters, Jeanne Hiles of Pottstown, PA and Joyce Rodriguez of Cornish, ME as well as nieces, nephews, a grandniece and a much-anticipated grandnephew. He will be missed, rest in peace Tim.
A small service will be planned at the family grave site in Monroe, CT at a later date.
