Charley died Jan. 18, 2010, in Fort Defiance. He was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Fruitland, into the Red Streak Running into the Water People Clan for the Big Water People Clan. Survivors include his sons, Herman Charley, Hamilton Charley, both of Lupton, Harold Charley of Winslow; daughters, Jane Yazzie, Marilyn Yazzie, Theresa Charley, all of Lupton, Rebecca Yazzie of Mentmore, Jeanetta Benally of Navajo; sister, Eva Moffett of Fruitland; 38 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Charley was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Charley; sons, Herbert T. Charley, Norman Charley. Pallbearers will be Stanley Silversmith, Henry Yazzie, Darrell Yazzie, Kevin Charley, Vitale Charley, Norman Benally, Brian Charley, Troy Denetclaw.
