Tom Jim Johnson May 24, 1924 - June 27, 2010 Tom Jim Johnson, 86, of Nenahnezad, beloved father, grandpa and brother, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 24, 1924, to Thomas and Elizabeth Dish Joe in the part of Hogback that is now Morgan Lake. Tom attended school at Shiprock Camp School until his 16th year. The U.S. Army drafted him to serve in World War II. He participated in the Normandy invasion and served in France and Germany in 1945. After his service in the military, he went to work in the uranium mines in Telluride and Rico, Colo., in Shiprock and in Blue Mountain, Utah. He was employed at the BHP Navajo Mine and San Juan Mine until his retirement in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalyn Bekis Johnson; daughter, Clara, and sons, Ralph and Irvin Johnson; great-grandson, Jonnah Harvey; and brothers, Wilford, Harry and John Joe. Mr. Johnson is survived by his children, Sylvia Dan of Nenahnezad, Arnold (Evangeline) Johnson of Denver, Colo., Marlene Gonzalez, Verna Johnson, Philbert Johnson of Nenahnezad, Zelma (Rodney) Larson of Waynesville, Mo., Stanna Johnson of Santa Fe, and Leonaidas (Anita) Johnson of Nenahnezad; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Fandy and Alice Joe, and brothers, George and Paul Joe and Herman (Mae) Atcitty, all of Hogback. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, June 30, at Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 1, at Open Bible Baptist Church in Waterflow. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
