Vera Smiljanic

SMILJANIC - Vera Smiljanic, 88, of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011, at her home in Rio Rancho. Vera was born February 2, 1923 in Novi Sad, the former Yugoslavia, to Petar Pascan and Olga Obrovski. She moved to the United States in 1965, and lived in New York and West Virginia until 1998, when she relocated to New Mexico to be with her daughter. Mrs. Smiljanic enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and her later years needlework projects was her passion. She was predeceased by her husband, George Smiljanic, sister Nada Perazic, and a brother, Mihajlo Pascan. Vera is survived by her loving family, daughter, Maya (Sergio) D’Antoni of Rio Rancho, NM; grandson, John G. (Colleen) Blaskovic, of College Point, NY; great-granddaughters, Jonna and Kayla Blaskovic; step-grandsons, Leonardo (Helen) D’Antoni, and Gabriel (Pam) D’Antoni. Services and Internment will be held in Walton, NY at a later date and time.
