Victorino Leo Moya

Victorino Moya, age 93, passed away Friday, June 1, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born July 2, 1929 to Eligio and Margarita Moya in Tome, NM.

He married his wife Edwina Moya October 24, 1949 in Tome, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Phil Moya, Felix Moya, Sophie Devlin, Salomon Moya, and Adeline Aragon; son-in-law, Leonard Baca.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Edwina Moya; his children: sons, Joe Moya and spouse, Cathy, Ray Moya and spouse, Tina, and Carlos Moya; daughters: Mary Baca, Isabel Trujillo and spouse, Eloy, and Roberta Zubia and spouse Richard  all of Albuquerque, NM; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sister, Criselda Thompson of Tome, NM; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

He was employed as a mechanic by the University of New Mexico until his retirement and worked for free to repair all of his family’s vehicles.

He was an avid gardener and his peas, green Chile and homemade wine were legendary. He always took the time take his grandchildren fishing a sport he loved.

He was active San Jose Catholic Church, where he was an usher for 69 years.

Honorary Pallbearers: Leonard Baca, Jr, Richard Moya, Jerome Trujillo, Eloy Trujillo, Patrick Moya, Matthew Moya, Richard Victor Zubia, Richard Zubia, and Alfred Moya.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Emma and Alfred Moya for the Sunday Mass, Eucharist, and for lunch for their thoughtfulness and kindness.

A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Mass will follow at 11:30 AM, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7 Church Loop, Tome, NM. Internment immediately following Mass at Tome Cemetery.
