Viola Santillanes

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved aunt, Maria Viola Santillanes, on March 28, 2023.  Viola was born on January 27, 1927, to Donaciano and Ramona Lopez in Kelly, NM. 

Viola moved to Socorro with her family and grew up in the home that her father built.  On July 27, 1963, Viola married Rocky Santillanes, and they spent 52 years together.  Viola enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and doing crafts.  She also loved going to local dances with her friends. 

Viola was predeceased by her parents Donociano & Ramona Lopez, husband Rocky Santillanes, brothers Albert Lopez & Gene Lopez, sister Cecilia Gonzales. 

She is survived by nieces Helen Camero & Rosalie Lopez, nephews Donny Ray Gonzales & Donny Lopez.  She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at San Miguel Church on April 18, 2023, at 9:30 am.  In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to San Miguel Church, an organization Viola felt strongly about.  Arrangements are being handled by Daniels-Socorro.
