Age 89, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, was born the eighth of nine children to Walter Lee Potts and Martha Elizabeth McDermott Potts on June 1, 1925, in Hollene, NM. As she grew up, she was a in-patient at the Carrie Tingley Hospital in Hot Springs, NM (T or C, NM now) for a short time. She later attended college at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales completing a 2 year Associates Degree in education. Later Violet met Cecil L. Davis of Elida, NM and married him on November 30, 1947. They were married for 64 years prior to his passing in 2011, and had two children. She was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Violet is survived by daughter, Cathryne (Hairston) Hogan and son in law Ardis of Sandia Park, NM; her son, Brent L. Davis of Granbury, TX; grandsons, Chad B. Hairston and fiancée Genie Kim of Albuquerque, NM, and Christopher J. Horner of Albuquerque, NM; great granddaughters, Alix Q. Cowan of Austin, TX, Mikalee M. Horner of Albuquerque, NM, Baillie Horner of Albuquerque, NM; her youngest sister Vida and her husband Pat Parmer of Georgetown, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 2:15pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery NM. A Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
