Virgil Begaye

Begaye died April 25, 2010, in Albuquerque. He was born Feb. 28, 1987, in Gallup, into the Salt People Clan for the Black Streak of the Forest People Clan. Begaye attended Juan de Oñate Elementary and Central High School. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, cooking, playing basketball, listening to music and being with his daughter. Survivors include his daughter, Neveah Caylee Begaye of Mentmore; parents, Vincent Smith of Mexican Springs, Virgie Begaye of Jones Ranch; brothers, Ronnie Begay, Tommy Begay; sisters, Regina Yazzie of Chilhitah, Rehita Billie of Albuquerque, Regina Yazza, Retina Begay, both of Gallup, Lynsey Halate, Thersa Halate, both of Gallup. Begaye was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents, Jhon and Sally Bryant; grandparents, Thomas and Anita Begay; brothers, Jonah Yazzie, Lee Vern Roanhorse. Pallbearers will be Vernon Yazzie, Errol Billie, Gavin Yazza, Tommy Begay, Ryan Price, Warren Ciccarello, Reese Ortiz.
