W. L. “Dub” Blasingame, of Farmington, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his home after a courageous fight with cancer. Dub was born in Oldham County, Texas on October 21, 1928, the third child and only son of D.R. and Grace Blasingame. Dub attended schools in the Amarillo area and graduated from Amarillo High School. His grandchildren loved hearing stories about challenges of that era and the fact that he rode a horse to school. He married the love of his life, Juanell Campbell, on June 17, 1946 in Canyon, Texas and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with twins, Nick and Vickie in 1951. The family moved to Farmington 52 years ago in February 1958. Dub took over the responsibilities of managing Construction Supply, a small lumber/hardware store on Main Street. Through Dub’s leadership, he built Construction Supply into the largest lumber company in the San Juan county with two other branches in Aztec and Bloomfield. He forged life long friendships with his customers, always willing to help people in need, and most interested in hiring young people to help them get a good start in the business world that would lead towards a successful life. Dub’s love of children was evident in his relationship with not only his children and grandchildren but numerous relationships he built through Little League baseball and softball and the young people hired at Construction Supply, many of whom were still in contact with him up until his death. Dub was active in Farmington area and had a strong desire to give back to the community that had given so much to him and his family. He served for many years in various leadership roles in Connie Mack and the City of Farmington Utility Commission . He was a life member of the Elks Club and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Farmington. He was a member of numerous Lumber, Building Material and Hardware Associations. Dub’s hobbies included hunting, gardening, and snowmobiling. He and Juanell enjoyed traveling together and spending time at their cabin at Vallecito Lake in Colorado. He is survived by his loving wife, Juanell. His daughter, Vickie Blasingame of Denver, CO, his son, Nick Blasingame and wife, Alicia, his grandson, Justin Blasingame and great-granddaughter, Alexis Blasingame of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by one sister, Doris (Olan) Montgomery of Yuba City, California, three nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Roxie Dupius and his beloved granddaughter, Angelique Blasingame. Services for Dub will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 1:30pm at First Baptist Church of Farmington, 121 N. Auburn Avenue with Pastor Keith Berryman officiating. There will be a special reserved seating section for former employee’s of Dub’s at the service. Dub will be then be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers are Aarron Spellbring, Shane Spellbring, Jim Crowley, Kent Crowley, Kevin Pruitt, and Robert Varbel. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Flack, Brad Locker, J.B. Kight, Jim Clay, Weldon Rea, and Jack Campbell. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for contributions to be made to the W.L.
