Wiley Jean Austin passed away on May 10, 2010 at her Milan home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Portales, New Mexico on November 11, 1937 to Wiley B. Smith and Floy Dean Reynolds Smith. She was 72. She was a life long Baptist. She was devoted to her family and friends. She will be missed by all that knew her. She had served as President of Ladies Auxiliary for the Fraternal Order of Police. She was last employed with Grants Mortuary, a job she truly loved. She is survived by one son; Keith Austin and his Fiancé Sarah Porter of Milan. One daughter; Jean James and her husband Jay of Clovis, NM. Eight grandchildren; Shawna Austin and her Partner Chris Gallegos, Tori Austin, Kaylenna Austin, J.D. Austin, Artie James And his Fiancé LaShauna Kelley, Amanda James and her Fiancé Kyle Owen, Jaydn Needleton, Jazmyn Spencer. Five great-grandchildren; Michael James, Darrell James, Brenda Jean James, Kohl Rowe, Caprice Gallegos. One brother-in-law; Dorman Austin and his wife Jeannie. Her special friends; Penny Goodwin, BA Toler, numerous family and friends also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband New Mexico State Police Captain Darrell “Sarg” Austin on July 15, 1993. One son; Robert Glen Austin on September 29, 1956. Also her sister-in-law; Beth Coffey Austin. A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 13, 2010 at 10:00 am at Grants Memorial Park with Pastor Hugh Rogers officiating. Honorary Pallbearers include; Penny and Marshall Goodwin, BA Toler, Nathan Mathews, Marsha Goodwin, Michael Najar, and Ernest Martinez.
