William H Gibson

March 18, 1923 — February 28, 2019

Born to Irish immigrants, Robert and Jane Gibson, in 1923, Bill passed away at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico with close family by his side.

Always inquisitive and greatly gifted, he excelled in school and his career as a mechanical engineer. Putting his whole self into whatever he did, he accomplished much in life. Bill piloted a B-17 at the age of 20 for the Army Air Corp. He became a highly respected mechanical engineer and designed control parts for the Space Shuttle. He worked for Otis Elevators, as chief engineer and built and installed People Movers all over the world. These are just a few of his accomplishments.

After he survived a serious airplane crash at the end of WWII, he met and married one of his nurses, Barbara Day. They went on to raise a family of four daughters in Southern California.

After his marriage ended, he eventually moved to Colorado and met Marie Glenn, his Life Partner. They spent many happy years together and enjoyed planning and sponsoring family reunions all over the world. Keeping family close was a priority for Bill and Marie.

Throughout his life Bill felt God’s hand upon him, protecting him in many difficult, dangerous situations and blessing him. Only later did he realize how important his faith was to him and wanted to leave to his family a legacy of doing the right thing, working hard, and faith in God.
