William Robert Moore
January 2, 1941 - September 7, 2023
William Robert Moore is survived by his wife of 56 years Helen Jean Moore, his high school sweetheart together for over 65 years. Together they have three children: Dianna Chavez, married to Randy Chavez of Sandia Park NM; Wm Robert Moore Jr. married to Lora George Moore of Los Lunas NM and Mildred Denice Chavez married to Donald Chavez of Albuquerque NM. He is “Grandpa” to 10 grandkids: Jeremy Chavez, Tristin Reeves, Marissa Chavez, Christoper Chavez, Demiree Moore, Ryan Moore, Aubrie Moore, Donald Jacob Chavez, Adrian Chavez, and Nicolas Chavez. Great Grandpa to 5: Preston Chavez, Baylynn Chavez, Reynah Chavez, Kylo Chavez and Emiree Navarez. Every grandchild was given a special nickname by Grandpa.
Robert attended school at Lou Wallace Elementary, Washington Middle school and Albuquerque High school. He was a member of the Air National Guard, and was honorably discharged on October 13,1966.
He was a classic car and hot rod enthusiast; you could always find him at car shows or in his garage. He enjoyed a ride out in one of his cars to sonic or Franks drive in, where he could enjoy his favorite beverage, a large ice-cold Coke. Robert had other hobbies collecting hot wheels, antiques, southwest pottery and kachinas. He also was very artistic, always doodling, he made silver and turquoise jewelry, and did leather work.
Robert loved History, listening to Oldies and ZZ TOP. His favorite place to vacation was California. His favorite holiday was Halloween, he had a large collection of masks and loved to dress up and sit outside and scare the neighborhood kids. Robert always had a bowl of candy within reach. He funded his sweet tooth by having a candy machine to sell candy to his grandkids.
Robert was a lover of animals which he got from his mom. He took in the animals that she rescued including; parrots, dogs, cats, fish and even monkeys. He also had a huge flock of pigeons that he cared for in his front yard to the dislike of his neighbors. His last dog, Kimo, quickly became his shadow whom he adored and was his best pal until he lost him in February of this year.
He was always joking around and poking fun, he used to drive his mother-in-law crazy joking with her. His sense of humor was how he dealt with everything Good or Bad, he even joked with his nurses and doctors which they did not always appreciate.
Robert retired after 33 years from the City of Albuquerque, Traffic Engineering Department.
After Retirement you could always find Robert napping in his chair or running to Sam's club with Helen and Kimo in Root beer, his Truck. He loved to talk about his Highschool days and how much fun he had with his girl and his friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents William Otis Moore and Midred Lee Moore and by his only brother, Michael Moore.
Robert will be greatly missed by his family and friends; his chair will never be filled.
