William A. Schleft, “Bill”, 82, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019. He was born January 28, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Alfred Augusta Schleft and Beda Milta Schleft. His military career brought him Albuquerque, NM where he met is loving wife of 54 years, Connie, and spent most of their married life. Bill lived and worked in Los Alamos, NM as a Fireman and once he retired, he and Connie moved to Albuquerque where he was a Security Guard for the Department of Energy. He was very involved in the Special Olympics and enjoyed coaching and participating in their local events.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Beda Schleft, his sister Judith and brother, Kenneth. He is survived by his loving wife Connie, son Bill Schleft (Daphne) of Los Alamos, Vicky Mitchell (Christopher) of Killeen, Texas; son’s Joseph of Las Cruces, and son Jason of Albuquerque. Bill loved his five grandchildren (listed by age) Brandon and his wife Taylor, Ryan, Megan, Lauren, and McKenna, as well as great granddaughter Leah, and a great granddaughter, Sydney, expected in August. He is also survived by his wonderful sister, Barbara Lyda, Wisconsin, a wonderful brother-in-law Albino Gallegos and his sister-in-law Nora, as well as many loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Bill was happiest at home with his wife Connie and son Jason, putting around the yard, making others laugh. He will be remembered for his loving heart and wonderful sense of humor and be missed every day. There will be a small service for Bill at Daniel’s Family Funeral & Cremation on 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE, Albuquerque, NM, on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 1:00pm where a Rosary will be recited. Burial will take place at the Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Boulevard, Albuquerque, NM immediately following. Bill’s care has been entrusted to:
