Xavier Ortiz

December 5, 1946 — February 21, 2019

Ortiz, Xavier
The earth stopped spinning for a brief second, Thursday, February 21, as heaven welcomed Xavier.  Born to Abundio & Filomena (Padilla) Ortiz on December 5, 1946. He was the 4th of 5 children.  Xavier was born and raised in San Antonio, where he stayed his entire life. From a young age, he was ornery, spoiled but sharp as a tack, which he carried into adulthood. He graduated from Socorro High School in 1966, joined the army and served his country in Vietnam.  He returned home and married. Of all the people he touched, both willing & unwilling, his most proud achievement in life was catching and marrying his soulmate Margie.  Who supported him in all he did from day one, until he took his last breath. Together they had 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Xavier spent his adult life serving others, most notably at Tremart and Randy's ACE Hardware. Where he still continued to harass the employees, long after retirement and they'd still let him in. He had a shameless relationship with the Crane Cafe breakfasts and the General Store fudge.  Where he would often talk them all into free samples.  Xavier is survived by his loving wife of 48 years,  Margie; Daughters, Karen Lucero (Brian), Angela Ortiz (Charles Gonzales), Victoria Ortiz (Melisa Montoya); Grandchildren, Anthony & Myrannda Dimas and Jerrick & Angelo Montoya; Great grandchildren,  Iyanna & Alejandro Espino and Amani Dimas; Mother-in-law,  Vivi Martinez; Siblings,  David Ortiz (Cathy), Maria Korzdofer (Ed), Irene Pargas (Horacio), Navidad Ayala (Whitey) and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Son, Jose Javier; Granddaughter, Adilynn Montoya; Father-in-law, Miguel P. Martinez. Rosary to be recited on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 8:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with the Mass of Resurrection to follow at 9:00 am. Celebrant Father John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at a later date. Pallbearers will be Anthony Dimas, Myrannda Dimas, Iyanna Espino, Alejandro Espino.  Honorary pallbearers are Joe Romero, Randy  Torres, Harold Baca, Gene  Saavedra, Garrett  Wilkinson, AJ Torres, Zoila, Ann.
