Ymelda Eva Valdez, age 63, was called to her eternal resting place on March 28, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister and aunt. She was born April 4, 1960, to her parents, Agustin and Nellie Valdez in Fairview, NM.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Valdez; grandfather, Dionicio Dominguez; grandmother, Bonifacia Dominguez; grandfather, Agustin Valdez, Sr.; and grandmother, Roberta Valdez.
She is survived by her father, Agustin Valdez; brother, Dennis Valdez; nephews, Eric Valdez and Isaac Valdez; sister-in-law, Alicia Garcia; uncles, Tom Valdez and Filiberto Dominguez; aunts: Josie Valdez, Theresa Lucero and Rosellen Vasquez.
Ymelda graduated from West Mesa High School in 1978 and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Criminology and Sociology.
She was employed by the New Mexico Department of Corrections for 25 years. She was also the first female Associate Warden of Central New Mexico Correction's Facility.
A special thanks to Letisha Lopez, Rosa Gutierrez, Veronica Padilla and Isaac Valdez for their support and comfort during her final days.
