On the evening of Saturday, January 2, 2016, Yolanda (Jody) G. Mendoza passed away following an extended illness.  Her family and best friend Debra (Debe) Broyles were by her side.  Jody was born to Manuel and Mary H. Mendoza and was raised in Gallup, New Mexico.  Jody was the third of six children.
Jody dedicated her life to taking care of her family and patients.  She was a registered nurse and worked at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  She returned to New Mexico in 1997 to care for her parents and to be closer to family.  She worked for Presbyterian Hospital until December 2014. There she built close ties to her colleagues and the community she served.  All who knew Jody immediately felt her warmth, kindness and care for others.  As family and friends, we are grateful to have had her in our lives. Special thanks to all of Jody’s co-workers, patients and friends from the Presbyterian downtown and High Resort Infusion Centers.
Jody was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Mary H. Mendoza. She is survived by four sisters; Rita Vasquez, Janette Montano, Lisa Rodriguez all of Rio Rancho, and Joan Shea of Elko, NV; and one brother; Benny Mendoza from Humble, TX.  Jody had many nieces and nephews who adored their Auntie. She was like a second mom to them, always providing help and guidance.
A memorial service to honor Jody’s life will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd. in Rio Rancho on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 am.  Burial at Vista Verde Cemetery will follow the service. To view information or leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com
