Chester Grandjean

Chester (Chet) Grandjean passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Socorro, NM.  Chester was born on April 10, 1943. He was the 2nd son of Louis Grandjean and Lenore (Gallegos) Grandjean.  Chester attended Mt. Carmel Catholic School, Socorro High School and completed college at New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology. Chester married his first wife, Arnola and together they had two sons, Kenneth and Loren.  Chester later married Glinda and they enjoyed many years together. Chester had a long career with the Bureau of Land Management starting in Socorro, with assignments in Phoenix, Az, Elko, NV and retiring in Taos, NM after 33 years.  A life-long love of the outdoors was his passion, spending many years hunting and fishing with his father, brother, his sons and many cousins and friends. Chester’s love of family was a big part of his life.  He was always in attendance at the many Grandjean reunions through the years. Chet recreated his fathers famous pit barbeque along with his mother’s sauce at one of the reunions. He and his many cousins shared good times and there are many stories of the fun and crazy times we all had. Chester is survived by his sons, Kenneth of Payson, Az , Loren of Botthel, WA grandaughter Jennifer Danae; brother Carter of California; nephew Derek O’Leary and niece Nicole Grandjean; numerous cousins and his good friend Larry Meeks and family.  He was preceded in death by his father Louis and mother Lenore. Services for Chester will be held at Daniel’s Funeral Home, 309 Garfield Ave, Socorro, NM 87801, Friday, January 24th at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow at Socorro Catholic Cemetery.  He will be buried next to his father and mother. The family wants to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Village.  The family would especially like to thank Larry Meeks for his wonderful friendship and the care given to Chet the last few years.
