Christine Mary Utrup

Christine Mary Utrup passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, NM on Friday, April 2, 2021 at the age of 89. Mrs. Utrup was born on Christmas Day, 1931 with her twin brother David Broadway who resides in Swindon, England near his sons Paul and Christopher and their families. In addition to David, her sister Olive Bishop of Seal Beach, CA and brother Peter Broadway in Wiltshire, England survives her. Christine became a nurses aid at a children’s hospital near Manchester, England before meeting Charles E. Stock and bearing 5 children. The marriage was later annulled lol!
Mrs. Utrup is survived by her five children: Craig A. Stock, Andrea F. Nelson, and Kevin J. Stock all residing in Albuquerque, Matthew John Stock in San Diego, CA, and a son in the MO area. She had two grandsons, Jonathan Nelson of VT, and Derek Stock of IN.
Christine was married to her dear husband Robert Joseph Utrup for 46 years prior to his passing on June 18, 2020. Mrs. Utrup worked for Sears for 18 years and became manager of the Catalog Department until her retirement. Mr. Utrup worked at Bernalillo Public Schools where he led the special education department. They enjoyed many happy years together fishing at lakes throughout New Mexico and working in their yard together after their retirements.
Robert Joseph Utrup was born in Niles, Michigan on December 11, 1927. He was the youngest of 11 children and last survivor. Robert graduated from Berrien Springs High School at the top of his class and gave the valedictory address at the age of 16. Robert attended the Sacred Heart Seminary in Michigan earning a BA in Theology. Mr. Utrup joined the US Air Force as a Captain and soon became a base Chaplain. Major Utrup retired from the Air Force and completed a graduate program at the University of New Mexico prior to beginning work in the education field.
The family wishes to express the utmost gratitude to Bo Popovich for helping both Christine and Robert during their final times. She was loved by both of them and treated each with unending kindness and dignity and brought them peace and happiness caring for them in their home.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE, Albuquerque. Interment will follow at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
