Dewey John Hamilton

Dewey John Hamilton, age 96, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020. He was born in Wynnewood, OK on April 23, 1924, to John and Ora Hamilton. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John Riley Hamilton; mother, Ora Lee (Thompson) Hamilton; wife, Zula Mae Hamilton; daughter, Ruth McEntire; sisters, Zona Hamilton, Ruby Hamilton; brothers, Lloyd Hamilton, Donald Hamilton, Doyle Hamilton, Dale Hamilton, Bill Hamilton.

Dewey is survived by son, Bob (Kathy) Hamilton of Rio Rancho, NM, Jerry (Nancy) Hamilton of Mesa, AZ, Jim (Merletha) Hamilton of Sunnyvale, CA; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dewey graduated from Battiest High School in 1942, in Battiest, Oklahoma. He then proudly served in the United States Army, in the 12th Calvary during WWII. He received a Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart for his years of service. On June 8, 1943 he married the love of his life Zula Mae Jones in Alikchi, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton spent 65 wonderful years and built a beautiful together before her departure in 2008. Dewey worked in the lumber industry and was the Vice President of Duke City Lumber in Albuquerque, NM. 

Dewey had a great passion for horses. He loved raising them and took a great sense of pride in training them. He had a special place in his heart for The Central Oregon Wild Horse Coalition.

Dewey will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
