Diana Marie Hendrickson

June 28, 1940 — May 20, 2021

On Thursday, May 20, 2021, Diana went to join Jesus and the Angels in Heaven as she lost her battle with pancreatic cancer at her Corrales, New Mexico home. She was 80 years of age.

Diana Marie Ostrowski was born on June 28, 1940, at her home in Polonia, Wisconsin, a small Polish rural town. She is the second of nine siblings. Growing up, Diana had her hands full by helping raise her siblings and finishing her farm chores including “plukin’ chikins’”. After graduating from West Allis Central High School in 1958, she went on to enjoy her work as a secretary in the West Allis City Hall.

Diana met Dick at a Muskego Beach ballroom dance and he asked her to dance to the “Blue Skirt Waltz”, which started their enjoyment of dance together for years to come! On July 6, 1963, she married that dancing partner and just one year later started the beginning of their family life with three daughters, Dawn, Debbie and Dorene.

Intrigued by the Land of Enchantment, the Hendrickson family made their big move to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 1971. Diana became very involved in the girls schools including volunteering in the cafeteria, the PTA and starting her part time job at Tastee-Freez. She then found her way to her gratifying job of 22 years working as a secretary/assistant with a family law attorney. Having the love of the New Mexico style, Diana and Dick later moved into a beautiful adobe home in Corrales, New Mexico.

Diana had a passion for gardening. While on her many travels, she would pick up many slips of various types of plants to add to her beautiful yard and house plants. Eventually this led her to proudly become a Certified Master Gardner.

Diana lived a full and generous life. Together with Dick, she would enjoy travel adventures by cruising, flying, and lots and lots and lots of camping! She was always the happiest on a beautiful sunny beach. Diana had a great sense of style and loved to seek out fashion, hair, and makeup ideas from many sources including including magazines, television and Savers Thrift Store. The last thing she did not want was to look like a “little old lady”! She loved to coordinate with lots of color, bold jewelry, purses, hats, and even with Dicks outfits matched to hers!

Diana has now been met in Heaven by her father and mother, Herman and Elmira, and her sisters Cathy Ostrowski, Karen Zarcone and Marion Klatt. Her spirit is carried on by her husband of 58 years, Dick, their daughters Dawn Merra (Vinnie), Debbie McCullough (Jeffrey) and Dorene Longworth (Jeffrey); her brothers Norbert Ostrowski and Robert Ostrowski and her sisters Anna Nornberg, Maxine Bierman and Bonnie Garski. She has four grandchildren, Marisa and Michael McCullough and Jerrett and Jenna Longworth.
