Elsie Corina Nolan

Elsa (Elsie) Corina Nolan, age 93, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and sister, was embraced by our Lord Jesus, on Friday, January 1, 2021 and taken to her heavenly home. She is survived by her sons: Alex Nolan of Amarillo TX, Louie (Rita) Nolan of Rio Rancho NM, and Richard (Faline) Nolan of Amarillo TX., brother Felimon (Helen) Sanchez Jr. of Silver City NM, and a host of extended family.

Elsie was born in Rayado, NM on July 10, 1927 to Felimon and Josephita Sanchez, who preceded her in death. She grew up in the Miami/Cimarron area and married her local area sweetheart Joe Benjamin (J.B.) Nolan in 1945. They had 4 children whom they raised primarily in Vaughn, NM.

Also preceding her in death: husband J. B. Nolan; daughter Bernice (Nolan) Chavez; sister, Ida (Sanchez) Espinosa, brothers, Jim Sanchez, Lorenzo Sanchez, and Max Sanchez. 

Elsie was a devout and active Catholic at St. Mary’s Parish in Vaughn. She enjoyed bingo and participating in functions with the Vaughn Senior Citizens Center. She was also a Avon salesperson in Vaughn for several years.

Elsie enjoyed baking bread, pies, cookies, and cakes. She made delicious tamales and taught some of her grandchildren her tamale making skills. She would happily welcome you into her home by greeting you with a big hug. She would always offer a bite to eat, entertaining you with interesting conversation. She was blessed with many long time friends.

Elsie will be greatly missed by her loving family and by all those whose lives she touched.

Services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, beginning with Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 AM, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church,  5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. Mass will follow at 10:30 AM.

The service will be livestreamed at Stjudenm.org.  

The family expresses special thanks and appreciation to the caring staff at Casa de Paz Assisted Living Facility in Rio Rancho and to the professionals from Roadrunner Hospice.
