Ferrell H. Adams

March 21, 1941 — January 8, 2020

Ferrell H. Adams, born March of 1941 in Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully at home with his family on January 8th, 2020 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Janet Adams, daughter Stacey Gabaldon and husband Gary, Son Brett Adams and wife Sandy, 4 wonderful grandchildren Ryan and Taylor Gabaldon, and Jerrett and Jacklyn Adams, and brother David Adams and wife Judy.

Ferrell was a true outdoorsman his whole life. Starting at a young age of 12, he became the youngest Eagle Scout in the state of Utah. He taught Ski School and was a Ski Patrolman in Utah and continued teaching young skiers at Sandia Peak upon arrival in Albuquerque in the early 60’s. Ferrell was known for his jumps often referred to as “Ariel Ferrell”.

Ferrell made his way to Albuquerque selling copy machines, and soon married Janet Medick in 1965 and started their family. Ferrell transitioned to Life Insurance and had a very successful Brokerage General Agency until he retired in 2002. The Insurance business was good to Ferrell and Jan where they had the opportunity to travel the world making lifelong friends along the way.

Summertime meant golfing, water skiing, camping, fishing, and hunting. Winter meant snow skiing and snowmobiling.  Many of the adventures had were in the luxury of one of their many motorhomes. Family, friends, business associates, and even a hitchhiker enjoyed Ferrell’s hospitality and the comfort of the Adams Motorhome. The love of the outdoors led Ferrell into purchasing his beloved Cabin on the Conejos river in southern Colorado, a spot for many weekends for both family and friends.

Ferrell’s free time was not just enjoying the outdoors, but he also was an active member of the Shriners of NM for 56+ years. He and his fellow unit members participated in hundreds of parades and volunteered for the Shine over the years.

Ferrell lived life to the fullest and will be missed by many. ‘Say not in grief ‘he is no more’ but live in thankfulness that he was’ – Hebrew proverb; As Johnny Cash sang In the Sweet by and by … ‘…not a sigh for the blessing of rest.’

A life memorial will be held February 1st at 1pm at the Ballut Abyad Shiners of NM , 6600 Zuni Rd SE, Albuquerque NM 87108. We ask that if you would like, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Ferrell’s name.
