Fred A Collier

October 14, 1963 — March 13, 2020

Fred “coach” collier was born October 14, 1963 to the union of Fred Collier and Willie Mae (Shirley) Collier in Watertown, Minnesota. Since an early age, many places have been called home allowing his family to form many connections across country and abroad. Grounded in Monterey, Ca he excelled in various sports including tennis, basketball, and baseball but his heart was on the football field. His mother reflects that as soon as he could throw a ball he was playing. He played football throughout middle school, high school, and  college. Freddie was known for running backwards at the same speed he ran forward playing the position of Safety; though his teammates called it “Monster Back” illustrating how viscous he was on the field. In 2003 he made New Mexico his home, living in Belen before settling in Albuquerque. There he revisited his love for football, coaching several teams and becoming a vessel of love, support, strength, and dedication. His passion for sports was matched with a passion for comics and video games that was instilled in those who loved him. Fred Collier departed this life on Friday, March 13, 2020 and was preceded in death by his father Fred Collier. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother (Shirley Collier), sisters (Debora Slay and Daphne Collier), nieces and nephew (Yazzmine Lujan, Sherrelle Watkins, Renita Williams, and Kenneth Smith), his great- niece and great-nephews (Debria Williams, Steven and Robert Loudermilk), and a host of
family and friends.
