Geneva Greathouse

January 1, 1978 — June 18, 2020

Geneva L. Greathouse (Neva) was born to Anna Greathouse and Jack Samuels January 1, 1978. She went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2020 after battling severe illness over the past year. She was a member of City Baptist Church and a great believer in Christ and God. She was employed at United Healthcare as a Claims Adjuster. She leaves behind to cherish her legacy her loving Mother, Anna Greathouse; Father, Jack Samuels; Grandmother, Sara Geneva Coleman; Father of her children and best friend, Marcus Sanders; Sister, La Toni R. Ellis; Son, Tahir Greathouse-Sanders; four Daughters, Abeyah Scott,   Autumn Sanders, Sierra Sanders & Gesalle Greathouse-Sanders; Her Aunts and Uncles, Joycie Grandberry and husband, Charles, Jessie Greathouse, Regina Greathouse-McCoy, Donnie Greathouse and wife, Olivia, Terry Greathouse and wife, Virginia and a host of cousins, family and friends.

As she meets her Father (God) in Heaven she is reunited with her Grandfather, Eluis Greathouse Sr.; Great-Grandfather, Hamilton Webb Sr.; Great-Grandmother, Jessie Webb; two Uncles, Eluis Greathouse Jr. and Youel Greathouse Sr.; three Aunts, Linda Spicer, Detricia Walker and Cynthia Greathouse-Nance and a Cousin, Nirel Nance.

Donnie, Neva’s uncle, named her after the strongest woman in the family, Sara Geneva, known to all or better known as MAYA. Donnie knew Neva would have similar characteristics as her grandmother. Neva was a prime example of Maya’s rules to be kind, be fair and be firm. Neva inherited her culinary skills from Maya, who is an exemplary cook. Geneva’s passion for cooking moved her to attend the Culinary Program at NM Central Community College (CNM) for a year when she discovered hands on cooking was better than learned culinary. Neva loved sharing her amazing dishes with family and friends. Family & friends delighted in the most tasteful meals they ever eaten. Neva’s heartbeats of life were her family, especially her mom, children and their father. She would intentionally go over and beyond the call of duty to meet their needs.  Geneva believed investing in the lives of others is the best investment people can make and she implemented it all the time.

Geneva (Neva) was fun, loving, caring and sociable; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
