Irene Annie Lopez

Irene (Lujan) Lopez went to her eternal rest in the company of angels on Tuesday October 29th, 2019 at her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Irene is the second daughter of fourteen children, she is the daughter of Benjamin Lujan Sr., & Frances (Sanchez) Lujan. Irene was born in El Canyon de las Manuelitas, her family moved to Las Vegas where she met her first husband Tony Sena, they were married in 1965 & had their son Anthony Sena in 1966, in 1970 Tony passed. In 1971 Irene met her husband Ernesto Lopez, later Irene & Ernesto moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where they raised their family.

A life-long Catholic, Irene had strong faith & values, she put her family above everything. Irene helped her parents raise her younger siblings, she raised five children of her own & her grandchildren. Irene would do anything for her family, & cherished any opportunity she had to gather with them. She was proud of her family, & proud of where she came from. Irene loved listening to music & dancing, she was proud to be the best cook in the world, & enjoyed cooking for her family. Irene kept an immaculate clean home & was the best wife, mom, grandma/great-grandma, sister, aunt, nina, daughter, cousin, & friend.

Irene is preceded in death by her mother & father, Benjamin & Frances Lujan; sister Angela Lujan; grandparents, Lucas & Isabel Lujan, & Vicente & Beatrice Sanchez; husband Tony Sena; brother; Benjamin Lujan Jr.; nephews; Rico Lujan, Freddie Lujan Jr.; her niece Trinity Olivares; brothers in-law, Gerald Aragon, & Augustine Aragon, & sister-in-law Helen Lujan & several aunts & uncles.

She is survived by her husband Ernesto Lopez; children; Anthony Sena & Rita: Ronnie Lopez Sr.: Ernestine & Danny Apodaca: Renee Lopez & Isaac: Cynthia Lopez & James; grandchildren Antonio Sena & Brittanie: Mishanda Sena & Andrew: Ronnie Lopez Jr. & Brianna: Phylishia Velasquez & Paul: Monique Apodaca & Edward: Marissa Lopez & Dale: Destiny Benavidez: Danicia Apodaca & Steven: Cheyane Benavidez: Jose Apodaca: Samantha Lopez: Analise Perea; great grandchildren; Santos Valdez, Neveah Lopez, Josiah Ortiz, Serenity Garcia, Milaya Valdez, Lanayah Ortiz, Zachariah Sena, Ezekiel Sena, Analiah Lopez, Lilliana Varela, & Baby Boy Garcia on the way; brothers & sisters: Sal & the late Helen: Robert & Flora: Ruby & Larry: Susie & Bobby: Freddie & Julia: Pita & Ray: Dorothy & Frank: Rose & Ruben: Danny & Olivia: Julia: Dina & Julian, aunt Antonia Lujan, & several nieces & nephews.

A family viewing will take place at 7pm on Thursday November 7th, 2019 & a Rosary prayer for Irene will be recited at 8pm on November 7th, 2019 both at Daniels Funeral Home 4310 Sara Rd Rio Rancho, NM 87124. 

Irene’s funeral mass will be conducted at 11am on Saturday November 9th, 2019 at Church of the Incarnation 2309 Monterrey Rd NE Rio Rancho, NM 87144 followed by burial at Vista Verde Memorial Park 4310 Sara Rd Rio Rancho NM 87124.

The celebration of Irene’s life will take place at Church of the Incarnation’s Parish Hall.
