Jennie Muro

Jennie Muro, 90, of Bernalillo, New Mexico passed away Monday, August 3rd 2020. She was born on January 15, 1930 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Henry O. and Carolina B. Walters. 

She graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas. She married Cleofas Jose Muro on March 10, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. Jennie worked at Clifton Cafeteria, Catalina Swimsuit Company and as a nanny. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was an active member of the Relief Society. She was also active in the Sandoval Historical Society. 

Jennie is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Cleofas Jose Muro; daughter, Cleo Jean Muro; son, David Eric Muro; and 5 brothers, Ishmael "Mel", Isaias "Isaac", Ernest, David, and Richard. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Marie (Muro) Mann and husband, David Oscar Mann of Rio Rancho and Monica Lin (Muro) Sigmon and husband, Karl Von Sigmon of Bernalillo; daughter-in-law, Mary Kathleen Elizabeth (Kelley) Muro of Gilbert, Arizona; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. 

Jennie was a hard worker. She loved to express her love by cooking or baking goodies and meals for others. She loved food. She loved to gather with family and found joy when all were together. She had an adventurous spirit and was curious as to what was around the next bend along the road. She had a creative heart and expressed it through her sewing, quilting, gardening and make her surroundings beautiful. 

"When creation was finished, each star in its place, God cradled the world in His thoughtful embrace and knowing that there would be problems to face, His plan came to be. For He wanted his children to learn to be strong and not become frightened if things should go wrong, so He placed in each heart a desire to belong, somewhere they felt needed, yet free. Then He added acceptance, patience and trust; Love that was selfless, caring and just; where questions were welcome and laughter a must. And he called this great gift - 'Family'."

A Graveside Service will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, August 13th 2020 at 10:30am by invitation only. Due to COVID restrictions, flowers are not allowed at the cemetery for the service.
