Jolene Marie (Lovato) Popolato

July 4, 1953 ~ November 15, 2021 (age 68)


Jolene Marie Popolato passed away and was called to her eternal resting place on November 15, 2021. She was born in Albuquerque on July 4, 1953 and was the 5th child of Bennie and Olinda Lovato. She loved New Mexico and spent most of her life in the state.


She attended Albuquerque High School and Albuquerque Technical/Vocational Institute. She worked at Elastamold and Singer Company in Albuquerque and at Omark Industries in Portland, Oregon. For over 25 years, Jolene worked as a Dispatcher for both the City of Albuquerque and the Water Authority. She retired in 2007.


Jolene loved animals and generously supported organizations helping animals that suffered from abuse and neglect. She was also a generous supporter of homeless shelters, children’s hospitals and causes that assisted Native Americans.


She loved gardening and working in the yard. She was an artist and loved to draw.


Jolene is survived by her husband, Joe Popolato, her brothers, Carl Lovato and Phillip Lovato and her sister Peggy Lewis, along with their families.


At some time in the near future, a Memorial Service will be held at Daniels Funerals & Cremation, 4310 Sara Road SE., Rio Rancho, NM. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Animal Humane New Mexico, UNM Children’s Hospital or Southwest Indian Foundation.
