Joseph Ray Gutierrez

Joseph Ray Gutierrez, age 67, went to his heavenly home on October 19, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joseph is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Nancy; Stepchildren: Kristin and husband Rick Magowan, Steven Baca, Paul Baca and wife Erica; grandchildren: Jordan, Grayson and Noelle.

 

Joseph served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from high school. He loved his country and took pride in the values and ideals America represents. Joseph earned a master’s in social work and followed his passion for helping our homeless Veteran’s. He loved working at the New Mexico Veteran’s Hospital and deeply touched many lives with his compassion, kindness and love for helping others. Joseph also served on the board for the Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless.

 

Joseph devoted his life to the Lord and his teachings and lead his life by His example. He was a humble man and gave to others from his heart. Joseph also loved reading the Bible and his Christian books. He believed that reading maintains a personal growth and brings you closer to Jesus. Joseph loved his family and friends and cooking was one of the ways he showed his love. Joseph received many requests for his red chili enchiladas and often brought green chili stew to work for his friends and coworkers.

 

Joseph now has joined Christ in heaven and we know that the angels are rejoicing!

A Celebration of Life for Joseph will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment was held Monday, November 2, 2020 at Santa Fe National Cemetery and was attended by immediate family only.
