Josephine Delores Alexander

March 28, 1922 — June 30, 2021

Josephine Delores Alexander (born Josephine Delores Gonzalez in Niagara Falls, NY, March 28, 1922) left this Earth June 30, 2021 at 99.4 years old. Josie was known by many and adored by all. She was an angel who walked amongst us and was often warned not to sit down too fast or she would crumple her wings. Josie was married to John Samuel Alexander for 70 years and together they changed lives everywhere they went and lived. John and Josie were always active members of their church, supporting every event they could to support the less fortunate. In 2006, Josie and John received the special Volunteer of the Year Award for over 25 years of service. While John worked full time to support their family, Josie routinely helped migrant workers in rural New Mexico, providing food and clothing while raising their four children (John, Paul, Sandy, and Mark). John and Josie spent many years volunteering at the Landsun Retirement Home in Carlsbad, NM, taking residents to doctor’s appointments, reading to them, or just providing someone a friend that they could talk to. Josie was especially honored to provide friendship and transportation to a survivor of the Titanic. Josie even met Pancho Villa’s widow on a trip back from Mexico, and the two only spoke Spanish to each other. Josie and John made the most out of every second they had on this Earth, and were able to enjoy the fruits of their labors as they got older by participating in the Senior Olympics, travelling the world, and even participating in the first Great Wall Run in China. Josie laughed a lot and smiled all the time, even when she became too wear to walk and unable to feed herself. Josie truly looked for and found the best in every person. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still… in our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill.
