Judith Marie Romero-Oak

October 23, 1938 — August 5, 2020

Judy Romero-Oak was born on October 23, 1938 and she left this world, peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones, on August 5, 2020, at her home, in Albuquerque, N.M.

While here, she didn’t waste a single moment of time and devoted her life to creating beautiful things like art, music, crocheted items, and her writing, which over the years, crossed the genres of journalist, poet, and spiritual and meditative prose. She also traveled to Oxford for study and became a pastor, spending her later years counseling the sick in hospitals and helping anyone who needed a friendly ear.

She loved with passion and loyalty and is survived by her beloved husband of thirty-four years, Gene Oak. She will miss her family that she had to leave behind, the father of her children, David S. Romero, his wife Verna, Judy’s oldest daughter Elisa J. Romero, her middle-son Timothy David Romero and her grandson, Silviano Chavez-Romero. Also missed will be her youngest daughter, Joy E. Romero, and Joy’s son Kaelin Romero-Ormerod, her stepson Kim Romero-Oak, his wife Suzanne and their two lovely daughters, Camille and Erica.

Judy will also be watching over her younger siblings, Jeanne Earwood, George Marston, Gary Marston, Jim Marston, and Danny Marston and their families. For comfort, Judy has her mother Fern and her father, Curtis, and her sister Mary-Jo in heaven with her, to celebrate a life well-lived.

A memorial service will be held at a later date where her family and her friends and the people whose lives she changed for the better, can all share their stories about how she made this world a much better place to be and about how we are all looking forward to someday seeing her, again.
