Lee R Silva

December 28, 1962 — November 18, 2021

Lee R. Silva went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 18th, 2021.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 36 years, Michelle Silva, Mother, Elizabeth Silva, Daughters, Danielle Minnick and Sage, Raquel Silva, and Gabrielle Silva, as well as his grandchild, Penelope Minnick, sister Michelle Silva, Melissa Monroe and Myles, and brother Matthew Silva and Allison.

Lee was born in Albuquerque, NM. He spent his childhood living in Nevada, California, Panama, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. He met his wife Michelle when he was 19 years old, and they were married June 15, 1985. Lee served as a dedicated air traffic controller for over 26 years and loved his job. He has three daughters Danielle, Raquel and Gabrielle. All three played volleyball and he never missed a game. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Penelope.

Lee’s favorite thing was spending time with Jesus and in the Bible. Every morning he’d announce to his family “I’m having quiet time, don’t bother me!” and would lock himself in his office to read the Bible and pray.

Lee took his wife on weekly date nights and they enjoyed traveling and spending Friday nights playing cards with friends. Lee loved to bike. You could often find him exploring the Bosque on his bike, trying to beat the previous day’s record biking to the gym, or hopping in his pristinely clean truck with his best friend Tom to mountain bike different parts of the US.

Above all, Lee is known for his selflessness. He took care of his mother and Aunt Gloria, visited his father in law Peter every Friday to share a cup of coffee and help out around the house, and made sure to check in on his Aunt Lydia weekly. Just before Lee was in the hospital, he tracked down a hospital bed for his brother in law, Garry who was struggling with back issues and delivered it to his house to help him sleep better. He was constantly looking out for others and doing everything he could to help and shine Christ’s light to all he was in contact with. He is loved and adored by so many and his legacy will continue on through his children. Next time you see a guy on a bike, racing around Albuquerque, think of Lee and his selfless, ambitious spirit.
