Marie Rita Lombardo

Marie Rita Lombardo, age 87, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 15, 1932, to Nicholas Tromba and Mary Salli.

She attended Canisus College and completed nursing coursework in 1951. She then attended Our Lady of Victory - School of Nursing and received a degree as a Registered Nurse in 1953. She was employed as a nurse for over 20 years.

On May 2, 1956, she married the love of her life, John Carl Lombardo in Buffalo, New York. They met when they were both in Kindergarten. They knew each other for 82 years and were married for 63 years. Their children love and miss them dearly.

Her hobbies included Geology, Archeology spelunking, tennis, traveling and watching sports. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her faith was very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carl Lombardo and her parents, Nicholas and Mary Tromba.

Marie is survived by her sister Anita Usher; children, Ceit Murgel and husband Robert, Mary Fletcher and husband Robert, Judith Carroll and husband Al, Renee Lombardo, John Lombardo and wife Terri, David Lombardo, Thomas Lombardo, Timothy Lombardo and wife Melissa, Michael Lombardo and wife Tammie, Robert Lombardo and wife Luna; 18 beautiful grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Snowball.

When life became challenging Marie would tell her children "Leave it in God's hands"

A private rosary and mass will be held in memory of Marie.
