Mark S Ducaj

November 23, 1953 — March 31, 2021

Mark S. Ducaj, 67, loving husband, brother and uncle, passed away suddenly at his home on March 31, 2021.

Mark was born in Denver, CO in November 1953 to Hazel and Robert Ducaj, Sr.  He moved to Santa Fe in 1967, where he formed friendships that would last a lifetime.  Mark was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and attended the University of New Mexico.  He spent time in Chicago where he was able to follow his beloved Cubs, even through some of their most dismal years.  From Chicago, he moved to Denver for a brief period.

A true New Mexican, he was drawn to Albuquerque, where he met the love of his life, Barbara.  He found his niche in his work for Southwest Airlines as a reservations agent and administrative assistant.  Upon retiring from Southwest, Youtube became his most influential mentor, as he developed his passion of playing guitar and nurtured his love for the blues.  He had a gift for creating true works of art as he delved into woodworking, and most recently, beadwork.  An ardent Lobo football fan, Mark never missed a single home game in over 29 years.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Robert, Sr. and his brother, Robert II.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sister Cathy Ducaj (Tony), brother Scott (Jan), and Robert II’s wife, Sandy, nieces Tiffany, Emily and Sarah, and his two beloved dogs, Riley and Frankie.  He was also deeply loved by his large extended family and friends.  His entire family will miss his wry sense of humor and his ability to craft amazing stories and make everyone laugh.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 15th at 10:00 am at Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Pius X High School.
