Mary Caravassi

Mary Caravassi, age 92, was called home by our Lord on June 2, 2021. Mary was born on February 5, 1929, to Charles and Lillian Caravassi in Brooklyn, New York.   

Mary was adored and respected by many people in her native New York City, as well as in New Mexico, her adopted home. Mary’s sense of fashion, style, independence, and willingness to love her family and friends unconditionally and without judgment will never be forgotten.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Margert Meregoni. She is survived by her cousins Geri and John Huber, their children John (Collette) Huber and Joseph (Theresa) Huber; Gabriel and Paula Papponi and their children Louis (Brenda) Papponi, Janice (Rob) Martinez, and Adrienne (Richard) Campbell; and many younger cousins who considered her to be like a grandmother Louis S., Myles and Alexander Papponi, Alyssa and Nicholas Campbell, John and Sarah Huber, and Joey and Ashley Huber. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

A funeral mass will take place on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 1:30 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road in Rio Rancho. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
