Michael Ward Cannady loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on April 18, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 62.

Michael is survived by his wife, Amanda Cannady; sons, Michael B. (Connie) Cannady, Patrick H. (Candice) Cannady, Travis W. (Caitlin) Cannady; daughter, Jessica A. (Ryan)Tingley.  He is also survived by his brother, Thomas P. Cannady and sister, Mary S. Cannady.  Beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Emma, Michael, Isabelle, Hunter, Frederick, Patrick, and Grace. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry L. Cannady Jr.; mother, Laura W. Cannady; father-in-law, Jack L. Hitt; mother-in-law, Carol R. Hitt; and brother, Harry L. Cannady III.

Michael was born on March 26, 1959 in Odessa, Texas to Harry and Laura Cannady. In 1977, he graduated from Troy High School and then went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma in 1982 with a degree in Petroleum Land Management. On October 3, 1981, he married Amanda Hitt at St. Mary’s in Edmond, Oklahoma. They were married for 39 beautiful years in which they raised their four children. He enjoyed spending his time with his children as a boy scout leader, soccer coach, and cross country cheer leader.  He later extended the same attention to his grandchildren whether reading the same book or playing soccer in the backyard. His children will remember him as a light hearted and relentless teaser who was an example of sacrifice and dedication to his family.

Michael worked as a Petroleum Land Manager from 1981-1990. He changed careers and became an Air Traffic Controller (FAA) for 25 years. After years of working in the field as an air traffic controller, he became an instructor and trained new controllers from 2017-2019.

Michael enjoyed golfing, watching and cheering OU football games, camping, and caring for his yard and home.  However, his greatest passion was caring for and being with his family. He was his happiest surrounded by friends and family. Michael was a devoted Catholic member at Newman Center and recently at St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Jude. He regularly attended Bible Study groups and he assisted the church in counting Sunday donations.
