Ruth G. Bowen

Ruth passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at the age of 88 years old. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and aunt. She will be lovingly remembered by her son John, daughter Deborah, daughter Diane, and son-in-law Greg. Ruth had 8 grandchildren, Melissa, Crystal, Dustin, Christopher, Ashley, John III, Alexis, and Ryan. She also had 13 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Taylor, Hailey, Jacob, Emma, Tyson, Addison, Emerson, Maverick, Easton, Jordan, Mikela, and Alexa.

Ruth worked for the University of New Mexico Police Department for over 25 years, during which she received many honors. She was also highly involved with the Albuquerque Women’s Business Association, where she served as the president of the Lumineria Chapter in 1986. She was a hardworking woman and enjoyed working at the department store during Christmas time and continued after her retirement from UNM. She was independent, active, and loved to go to the casino.

After retirement, she was a devoted volunteer at the Senior Center, where she coordinated the bingo program for members. She enjoyed gardening and ceramic painting, and adored her turtles.

Ruth loved her growing family, and will be remembered for her joyful and loving smile.
