Sarah Lee Sparks

February 10, 1933 — March 24, 2020

Sarah Lee Sparks was born on February 10, 1933, to Maudie Mae Williams and Lewis Baker in Red River County, Clarksville, Texas.  The Heavenly Father called her name Tuesday morning, March 24, 2020 and she transitioned from Earth to Glory.

She was educated in the public schools of Roxton, Texas, graduating from H. G. Smith High School.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Martin Shiloh Church in Clarksville, Texas.

In the 1950’she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with her family. She met and married Robert Sparks, Jr.  They were married for 63 years.  She was the proud mother of five children, Minnie, Linda, Bobby, Cheryl and Rose.

She joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 60 years.  She served on many auxiliaries, President of the Usher Board, Deaconess, Church Clerk, Women Mission, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Teacher to name a few.  She loved to fellowship with other churches and would attend the Noon Day Senior Mission at Shiloh Baptist Church.

She graduated from the New Mexico School of Beauty Culture in 1969 and became a beautician working with her lifelong friend Ruby Foster Rand.

She had a kind and loving spirit that never met a stranger.  She would stop and talk to everyone.  She loved the Lord and loved to share the Gospel with everyone she came in contact with.  She would wake up early in the morning to read her bible, study her bible lesson and pray for her family or   whoever needed prayer.  She was invited to go to the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) by Catherine Powdrell and she has been a member and worker for many, many years.

She lived in the Kirtland Addition for over 60 years where she would participate in the Kirtland             Association and the arts and craft and quilting class at Thomas Bell Community Center.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to her nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  She believed our family was a circle of strength and love, founded on faith, joined in love, kept by God, together forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maudie Mae Williams and Lewis Baker, brothers, Welter “Buddy” Boxton, Elmer Baty, and James Monroe Williams, sisters, Snowie Lee Lewis and Lela Jane Gettes, and granddaughter, Lacresia Dillard.
